Cultivated chicken comes to the U.S. UU.

UpsideFoodsyGood Meat, two leading companies in the production of lab-grown meat, have obtained approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. UU. (USDA) to start the commercial production of cell culture proteins. This important regulatory milestone will allow them to bring their innovative method of meat production to the market without sacrificing animals. Good Meat, a subsidiary of Eat Just, uses large growing tanks, similar to those used in beer production, to make meat more sustainably. On the other hand, UpsideFoods is planning to launch its product at the prestigious Bar Crenn restaurant in San Francisco and has generated great expectations among diners through a contest that offers the opportunity to be the first to try its meat grown in the United States.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands has become the first European country to allow tastings of lab-grown meat and seafood, even before the approval of new foods by the EU. Thanks to a historic agreement, investors, partners, consumers and scientists will be able to test cultured meat products such as beef and pork burgers developed by companies such as Mosa Meat and Meatable. In addition, the Dutch government has created a “code of practice” in collaboration with companies and organizations in the sector to carry out tastings in controlled environments.

Both news show significant advances in the development of laboratory-grown meat as an option that complements the current supply and may become more sustainable than conventional meat production.
