Over 100 CEOs and Global Leaders Gathered to Transform the Food System

Madrid hosts the new meeting of the largest food think tank in Europe, The Food Changemakers, founded by KM ZERO to exert real influence on long-term strategies, policies and legislation in the agri-food sector. This group of leaders will hold their first working sessions of 2025 around different analysis tables that will address issues of high impact for the current food system, such as food sovereignty, advanced nutrition and longevity, the application of artificial intelligence in the sector, the decarbonization of processes or the relationship between new technologies and the Future of the field. The meeting will take place on April 7 in Tramo, a leading gastronomic space for its sustainable and ethical concept, recognized with the Green Michelin Star.

The meeting of this Think tank, which doubled in size just one year after its creation within the framework of the food innovation forum ftalks Food Summit'24, will represent the bringing together more than 100 leading voices of all sectors of the food chain. Its members will include more than 60 CEOs, founders and company managers such as PepsiCo, General Mills, Givaudan or Kerry Group, with a market value of more than 350 billion euros, accompanied by scientists, investors, representatives of public entities and specialists in different areas of the agri-food sector.

The meeting, which will be preceded by the experts' visit to innovation and entrepreneurship spaces promoted by Madrid City Hall like La Nave and Madrid Food Innovation Hub (MFIH), will also include a geopolitical session for CEOs given by Bernabé Gutiérrez, an intelligence consultant and analyst with experience in entities such as the CIA or the White House. The objective of this session will be to present recent changes in international relations and foreign policy, analyzing their impact on supply chains, trade and the food sector.

One of the objectives of The Food Changemakers Think tank will be to promote connections between investors and entrepreneurs to promote the flow of capital to projects with a positive impact. In this way, the meeting will also include the participation of funds with a potential investor of more than 4 billion euros, including firms such as ACRE, McWin, SwaanLab or Cardumen Capital.

The list of leaders that will be part of this initiative will include personalities such as Sam Kass, former White House chef and senior nutrition policy advisor to the Obama administration; Dorothy Shaver, global director of sustainability at Unilever; Julia Collins, founder and CEO of Planet FWD; Jack Bobo, executive director of the Rothman Family Institute for Food Studies at the University of California (UCLA); Ferrán Adriá, renowned chef godfather and mentor of Madrid Culinary Campus or Daniel Ramón, National Research Award and professor of Food Technology at CEU University. These proper names will share space with some of the most prominent entrepreneurs in the global foodtech field, founders of startups such as Biome Makers, Heura, Botola, XFARM, Crowdfarming, Aleph Farms or MicroEarth.

First edition of The Food Changemakers Awards

The next meeting of this group of experts will bring with it the celebration of the awards The Food Changemakers 2025, who will recognize the most important figures at the national and international levels for the future of food. The first edition of these awards, also promoted by KM ZERO Food Innovation Hub, will take place at a gala that will close the intense activity of the Think tank in Madrid, with the assistance of its members and renowned figures from the national business and gastronomic world.

The Food Changemakers 2025 awards, as well as the meeting of the group of global leaders in the transformation of the food system, is an initiative of KM ZERO Food Innovation Hub, with the institutional support of Madrid Emprende, Madrid Food Innovation Hub, IMIDRA, ICEX, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Embassy of the Netherlands.
